For its recording debut, the Ballyhoo Foxtrot Orchestra teamed up with singer Kim Fitch to assemble a collection of songs inspired by the lives of Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. Scott, of course, was a celebrated author of novels (The Great Gatsby) and short stories, who is credited with coining the phrase "Jazz Age." During the 1920s, however, he and his wife Zelda were equally famous for their "no-holds-barred" lifestyle. They were - and still are - regarded as the very personification of the Jazz Age spirit. The nineteen songs on this CD tell their story, capturing their personalities and paying tribute to significant events in their lives. The wide variety of music on the CD reflects the diversity of experience contained in these two remarkable lives. |
